Pocket of Guilt

by Dora Lee Thompson
What was it like to be a German during WWII?
This story gives a unique look right into the heart of Germany!  It was interesting to see how Hitler treated his own people.
This story follows The Shulz family, particularly Dieter their 10 year old son, from 1939 - 1951.  Dora Thompson gives a better picture of the war by including the aftermath, because the war for food, homes, and jobs went on long after May 1945.

How many stars? Is this an adult read or would my big kids like it? Can't wait to catch up in a couple weeks!

I have seen all the new WWII story movies, and out of all of them, I think this book would make a better movie. Maybe that will happen, with the endorsement of Gerald R. Molen, producer of Schindler's List. The characters in this true to life story are so real, and even amidst the bombs and araid sirens, there is a sweet teen love story. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a good read, especially teens.
