FAITH in JESUS CHRIST

"Do not minimize the FAITH you already have. It takes FAITH to join the Church and remain FAITHFUL. It takes FAITH to follow prophets rather than pundits and popular opinion...It takes FAITH to live a chaste life when the world shouts that God's law of chastity is now outmoded..."

"FAITH in Jesus Christ is the greatest power available to us in this life. All things are possible to them that BELIEVE(Mark 9:23)." - President RM Nelson, april 2021

the Lord Loves Effort - free printable

This is my favorite quote of 2020 -
whatever hill we must climb - we can do it!  The Lord will help us as we put forth the effort!

The Heavens are Open by Wendy W Nelson

5 stars!
I first had a subscription to Deseret book Audio books and listened to this book.  Immediately I was drawn in - and easily finished it.
How much did I enjoy it?  Well, I've now bought the book and shared it with several friends. It's short, full of stories and left me changed - left me thinking and doing things a little bit different - better.
She has such a wonderful way of just "talking" to you.  She is humble, yet strong in her speech.  She is truly amazing and I learned so much!
One of my favorite Chapters was 8.  Below is a quote from that chapter.
Enjoy:)

5 WEEK COUNTDOWN to GENERAL CONFERENCE

HAVE FUN COUNTING DOWN
TO
GENERAL CONFERENCE:
it's all free

I plan to do this with my family and the sisters I minister to, and a close friend or two:)
i THOUGH IT WAS TIME FOR A LITTLE FUN
Simply stop by their homes each Sunday or Monday for the next 5 weeks
and drop off a little something that goes with the FIRST VISION.
Here are some ideas I had:
  • 1st WEEK - GIVE THEM A BOOKMARK OR LARGER - of the COUNTDOWN - and then something FIRST VISION THEMED
  • Make Heart Shaped SUGAR COOKIES with the QUOTE CARD:
  • Eye Spy GAME:  Make these easy Golden Plates (one for each member of their family) they can play the game and have a little set of plates to keep)  these are made with FIMO clay - no kneading required - I simply cut the square in 4, then trimed each square to a rectangle and used the trimmed off edge as the binding for the book.  Now take a sharp knife, press pages indents on the side, squiggles on the top - and bake 20 min.!!!  DONE!! - FAST< EASY!!
  • With the Golden Plates you could leave this QUOTE CARD
  • Copy a few First Vision ARTICLES or STORIES from February and March New Era's and Ensigns - they are pack full of good ones!!
  • Give a 5x7 First Vision PICTURE (15 cents at Deseret book!)
  • TREAT with a QUOTE:  Powerades, Spearimint Gum(find at dollar store), Sprite and York Mint candies

  • Give a CANDLE- representing the Light that Joseph saw exactly over his head, and also the light we feel as we too ask of God and receive light and revelation
  • Also...You can share your testimony, make cinnamon rolls (for the role Joseph Smith played in bringing about the sweet Retoration), listen to a FIRST VISION PODCAST together, copy Pres. the skies the limit!  Have fun:)

  • I Love Sister Nelson's book - so I am copying them a CHAPTER 8: Take a Question to General Conference - and giving my sisters this to read  with the ASK OF GOD QUOTE card!

General Conference Stickers

Print these on AVERY 8293 labels
for an easy way to label each talk in your conference journals.
Also it's fun to watch and see who are the last apostles to speak.  Every Apostles speaks once except for the First Presidency.

I got this fun idea from this blog  HERE,  she uses AVERY labels #5160 if you prefer that size:)  She has a fantastic blog - be sure to stay and look around when you get there!

Kids Conference Challenge 2014

I have challenged all my kids to listen to Conference - again - during the next 6 months.
I helped them all download the gospel tools free app and find the conference Ensign then showed them how to listen to it while doing chores, walking or anything.

Now for the Sweet Reward.
For Every talk they listen to I give them a mini candy bar. After they listen to 5 talks they get a regular size candy bar. My 11 year old listened to 5 talks last Sunday after taking this challenge - it works!:)

Print off this free page to keep track and try and listen to an entire conference - again!!!

7 General Conference FHEs in the Bag!

Here is a simple way to organize 7 weeks of FHE using General Conference Talks!

The basic idea is to give each person in the family a "Kit" which has their own conference ensign, the assigned talk, a few suggestions to help "fun it up", and then a treat to eat as they prepare:).

Now to Assemble the FHE Kits:
(for a family of 7)
  • 7 General Conference Magazines
  • 7 Treats for the Preparer to enjoy while planning FHE
  • 7 talks you have pre picked
  • 7 plastic bags
  • 7 Papers to tell what talk to teach with -suggestion for activity or pictures for a story, etc - just an idea or two that helps "fun it up"

Free printable of my families first 7 lessons!:

General Conference FHE in the Bag!!

Everyone Gets to teach a Lesson - Spread them out on the Table and put everyone's name in a bowl. First name drawn out gets to choose which FHE Kit they want first.

Calendar it - Grab the calendar and write down who gives the lesson what week!

On the last week have 7 more kits assembled and ready to go!!!:)

Studying General Conference with your Family

Ever wonder how to get your family involved in the Conference Ensign?

Here are a few tips I use:
  • Everyone gets their own copy
  • Put everyones name on the front (I use stickers)
  • Put small stacks of post it notes on the front to be used to mark special pages
  • HIGHLIGHTERS - lots of fun colors - any age can now participate
  • We read & highlight 2 - 4 paragraphs from one talk, talk about it for a few minutes and are done
  • Sunday afternoon is a great time to do this!
  • Little treats can help the discussion when we review what we've read  (espcially gettting my teens involved)
