Pillow Covers Tutorial
This is a great way to revive any room - or gift any friend!
Easy and Tasteful - and cheaper to mail than most gifts!:)
This pattern is for a Square Pillow Cover
18 " x 18 "
18 " x 18 "
Front Fabric - Purchase 18 3/4" x 18 3/4" ---I suggest going to the home decor and picking out the thicker tapestry fabrics used for curtains and covering cushions - they have tons of GREAT DESIGNS!
(You can do any size you want though! Look at your pillow forms, make up your own size, cover any boring cushion and measure it! Then cut the two back pieces just about 3-4 inches shorter on the width)
Back Fabric -
Purchase 2 pieces measured:
- first back piece - 13 3/4" x 18 3/4"
- second back piece - 13 3/4" x 18 3/4"
- Cut both back pieces
Fold in 2-3" and iron, then sew thefold down
Set fabrics front and both backs right sides together overlapping back pieces
Pin in Place
Sew 3/4" seam all the way around and then clip the corners
Turn right side out - YOU ARE DONE!!!:)
The pillow shown had a wool felt front and a tapestry fabric for the back.
It measures 17" x 20".
cut front - 17" x 20" of black wool felt
cut 2 back pieces - 17" x 16"
wool felt circles - 3" large cirlces, 2 3/4" small circles
If you would rather just buy one I found a great shop with style and low prices!

Take a mini size Book of Mormon and give it a Sweet LiL' Cover with your favorite Fabric!
These whip up fast, no sewing - just use your iron!
Fun to keep in your purse, glove box, travel bag and great for gifts!:)

HOMEMADE LIPGLOSS
I learned to make this from my Sister at our Sisters retreat a couple years ago. Recently I made them with a group of girls ages 8-11 at church! It was a super fun activity we all loved!

Paper Flowers
After seeing a simple Youtube I had to try these Paper Flowers! They turned out great! This is now my favorite embelishment! Watch this quick youtube and have fun!
My only tip --- use a hot glue gun "EASY"!:)

Potted Pin Cushion
This idea has been in my project bucket for a LONG time. I had the hot glue gun out today and thought - it's now or never! And I was quite pleased! They are simple to make and perfect for a quick but useful gift!
First: Machine quilt 2 pieces of fabric with batting inbetween
Second: Purchase a pot (I bought mine at target in the dishes isle)
Third: Cut quilted fabric a little larger than your pot (make sure the fabric can wrap up the sides of the pot when it is sitting on the fabric)
Fourth: Tuck and pin 2 times on each side
Fifth: Use your hot glue gun and take out one pin at a time and glue fabric to fabric - as if the pin were still in it
Sixth: Stuff as firm as you can with Batting (I folded the bottom 4 corners together and glued them to help me keep more batting in)
Seven: Hold the fabric and batting in your pot, then pull to one side and glue along the inside. Hold while it cools, then pull the another side in while you glue and keep going till you are done! :)

Scripture Memorizing Boxes
These little boxes are a great way to help our kids memorize scriptures.
Thank you to Chelsea Adams - my sister-in-law, for showing me her Memorizing Box! I loved the idea! We have memorized scriptures, but then we forget and time goes on.

This is a simple system to not only memorize but also put those great scriptures into long-term memory!
Every morning before I send my kids off to school we take the last 5 minutes to say family prayer and then read from the bible or work on a scritpure we are memorizing. I plan to impliment this great system during that morning time.

Grab some colored Cardstock to print off your scriptures. A simple way to keep your scriptures organized is to print each book on a different color. Green - Old Testament, Yellow - New testament, etc. Then just cut them up and start adding them to your memory box!

TRAVEL/CAMPING PILLOWS
With 5 kids my car space is maxed! I came up with this idea for road trips & camping - it eliminates all those HUGE pillows - but still gives everyone a pillow! The kids love them, and I find them comfortable to sleep on! This turned out to be a great space saver! AND SO SIMPLE TO MAKE!

Little Boxy Pouch Tutorial
I found this great tutorial at three bears and I have made probably 20! I love them - so I wanted to share! It is my gift to give this year! I fill them up with chocolates, cute chapstick, and if I think they'll use them - little travel supplies. I love to find a sewing project that let's me buy fat quarters of all the fabulous fabric lines in Quilting Stores! This is also a great way to use up cute scraps you have -then it's only the cost of the zipper(and the yummies inside)!
BEWARE - SUPER ADDICTIVE!
***One change that I made: In #1 of the tutorial was that I cut 2 layers of fabric for each side and put batting inbetween my fabric layers and then quilted them with a simple stitch(if you can machine quilt it is so much cuter this way). Thus on #2 when I ironed the top edge down I then sewed it down - right next to the open seem you folded over (this is necessary since it is thick - it keeps it flat for adding the zipper). Now the box keeps it cute shape!:)
